A Styal Lodge Summer Wedding
A Beautiful Summer Wedding at One of Cheshire’s Most Loved Venues
A Relaxed Morning Filled With Excitement
Kerry and James’ summer wedding at Styal Lodge began with a sense of anticipation that had been building for years — 2176 days, to be exact. During the morning preparations, they hung a handmade sign that read, “We’ve waited 2176 days for this. Party accordingly.” It was the perfect mix of humour, honesty, and celebration, and it instantly set the tone for the day ahead.
The morning itself was beautifully calm. Friends and family drifted in and out, helping with final touches, sharing stories, and soaking up the atmosphere after such a long wait. There was no rush or pressure — just a warm, steady build of excitement as everyone realised that, finally, the day they’d been counting down to for so long had arrived. Every smile carried a little extra meaning, and every moment felt that bit more special.
“Stephen, Thank you so so much for all of these wonderful photographs! I cannot look at them without crying as you have captured the day perfectly! We cannot thank you enough for how wonderful you were on the day as many of our guests commented on how polite and kind you were and since seeing your photographs they were blown away by your framing and artistic style! We honestly couldn’t be happier that we went with you. You are genuinely a lovely guy through and through and have given us the gift of capturing our day in the most spectacular way possible.”
Drinks, Laughter and Lawn Games in the Sunshine
Once the ceremony finished, the celebrations spilled naturally outside. Guests gathered on the terrace with drinks in hand, kids darted between groups, and the laughter from the Jenga forfeit game could be heard from across the gardens. It set the tone for the afternoon perfectly — fun, unposed, and full of personality.
Gentle, Natural Portraits in the Gardens and by the Lake
Kerry and James took a short walk through the gardens for some relaxed portraits, keeping everything light and natural. Later, we wandered down to the lake for a few quiet minutes together. The soft summer light, the still water, and the chance for them to step away from the noise gave us some beautifully intimate frames before they headed back to the party.

A Wedding Breakfast Full of Emotion and Big Reactions
Inside, the wedding breakfast room was buzzing. Tables filled with chatter, glasses clinked, and the speeches brought everything from tears to full‑on belly laughs. Every reaction was right there — the kind of honest, unfiltered emotion that makes photographing speeches such a joy. Kerry and James soaked it all in, surrounded by the people who know them best.
Cake Cutting, First Dance and a Packed Evening Dancefloor
As the evening rolled in, the energy shifted again. The cake cutting led straight into the first dance, and from that moment the dancefloor never emptied. The live band kept the room alive, inflatable guitars appeared, and guests threw themselves into the music with the kind of enthusiasm that only happens when everyone feels completely at ease.
Neon Glasses, Inflatable Guitars and All the Joyful Chaos
Kids joined in with neon glasses and glowing necklaces, guests cheered each other on, and the whole room felt electric. At one point, someone even pointed back to the morning’s sign — “2176 days… party accordingly!” — as if to say, this is exactly what they meant. And honestly, it was. The room was full of the kind of joyful chaos that only comes after a long‑awaited celebration finally gets its moment.
A Quiet, Cinematic Night Portrait to End the Day
We ended the night outside, where the warm lights created a quiet, cinematic space away from the party. Kerry and James stood together under the canopy, reflected in the surface below, sharing a final moment of calm before heading back inside to dance the rest of the night away.
Their wedding was everything a summer celebration should be — relaxed, heartfelt, full of laughter, and completely true to who they are. A day built on connection, joy, and the kind of moments that stay with you long after the music stops.
Kerry and James’ wedding was such a joy to photograph — relaxed, heartfelt, and full of the kind of real moments that make a day unforgettable.
