Peak Edge Hotel Wedding Photography | Emily and Emma
Emily and Emma's same sex wedding at The Peak Edge Hotel was an absolutely brilliant day. The day began at the lovely hotel, situated on the summit of the high apex hill in Derbyshire. The hotel itself was a beautiful place for our same sex brides to say their wedding vows and tie the knot. When Emily got in touch to ask whether I was available to photograph her wedding to Emma at The Peak Edge Hotel in Derbyshire, I was absolutely delighted.
With both brides getting ready at the hotel there were two sets of bridal preparations to cover so I worked quickly jumping between both rooms to capture the fun and laughter for both brides. Once we had two sets of bridal parties along with two ready brides in their wedding dresses (complete with bouquets) and a ready and waiting wedding party of guests, it was time for their intimate same sex wedding ceremony to begin.
Same Sex Wedding
The marriage service itself was wonderful with smiles and (happy) tears in equal measure with many memorable moments throughout being captured on camera. We then headed outside for our newlyweds to be showered with confetti from their friends and family. There was a lovely moment as Emily and Emma were walking through a cloud of confetti surrounded by all of their wedding party which was probably my photograph of the day.
Emily and Emma then spent 20 minutes with me for couples photographs together in the grounds of the hotel. There are no boundaries or borders to Peak Edge Hotels views, so we had some lovely backdrops for our photographs - we even had a moody sky which added another element to our shots. It was lovely to photograph our same sex wedding couple in such a romantic setting.
It was then off to the reception room for wedding breakfast, cake cutting and the first dance which led us into a night of dancing and partying. However before the day was over I just had to take a night-time shot of our newlyweds outside the lobby of the hotel. Here we had fairy lights, and so I decided to light them up from behind with an 'off camera flash' and shoot with a fast wide aperture lens. The resulting photograph was a perfect ending to a magical day.
